Fundraising Work Center and Trustees

Hi Everyone:

I was wondering if anyone out there has experience with giving their trustees access to your NXT database and setting them up in the Fundraising Work Center so they can access the records for the constituents for which they are cultivating relationships and securing gifts.

Are there any privacy concerns?

Can you limit what they can see in a constituents record?

Thanks,

Ray

  • Security in NXT webview is based on User Groups in database view, so you could create restrictions on what the trustees are seeing (restrict constituents by constituent code or gifts by fund, eg.) tasks they are able to do (view only or add actions only vs. change constituent or gift details). That being said, I think I'd be very hesitant to allow any but the most thoughtful and patient volunteer users access to the live data.

Have they signed a confidentiality agreement?  If they have, then Alyson Watts‍ suggestion of constituent code security is a good one.  I don't know if it is completely necessary, but it can be done. However, since they are trustees, I would imagine that they have access to significantly sensitive documents anyway.

I'd also sit with them as well and do some training to make sure they have an idea of how to navigate the work center.  Especially if they will have actions assigned to them.
