Hello BBCRM folks!


We're fairly new in Blackbaud CRM, being live for 4 months now! We are updating our list of integrity checks from our Raiser's Edge days. Is anyone out there willing to share their standard list of integrity checks for Blackbaud CRM with us? We want to be sure we cover as much of the database as there's more to cover compared to Raiser's Edge.

    Standard List?  I don't think there's any such thing.  Most of this stuff is based on your business rules and data entry standards.


    Going through just one of our data integreity dashboards, the Central Development Constituent Dashboard... we have:
    • Gender Title Mismatch
    • Tributes in memory of someone who is not deceased
    • Duplicate Tributes
    • Non deceased parents of "old" alums
    • household missing name (ie "Mr. Richard Root and Mrs. Household")
    • Organizations with the # symbol in the name
    • Organizations containing incorrect abbreviations
    • Organizations with Invalid Punctuation
    • Committees containing incorrect abbreviations
    • Committees  with Invalid Punctuation
    • Organization Aliases with no Alias Type
    • Organization Aliases with Invalid Alias Type (ie, "Household Name")
    • Individuals missing first or last name
    • Individual with Invalid Constituency
    • Organization with Invalid Constituency
    • People with Staff Constituency without Faculty/Staff Constituency
    • Organizations with no primary constituency
    • Organizations with multiple primary constituencies
    • Orgs with no constituency or relation only that are active
    • Orgs with Governmental Agency and Prospect Constituencies
    • Governmental Agency without "Other Organization" constituency
    • Educational Institutions with Revenue but no other organization consstituencies
    • Corporate Foundation constituenciy but no Corporate Foundation/Corporation relationship
    • Committees with other constituencies
    • Household with Constituency 
    • Constituency with future end date
    • Certain constituencies with end dates
    • Duplicate constituencies
    • Constituents with diacritical marks in their names and no Post to GL Alias
    • Post to GL Alias contains special characters
    • More than one post to GL Alias
    • Alias types changed from Post To GL to something else
    • etc
    • etc
    • etc
    We have 567 custom list builder query view specs, MOST of which are related to data integrity management

    BTW, we have a Data Management Committee that meets at least monthly to discuss data entry standards and how to deal with discrepancies and who should be monitoring those data checks.


    Personally, I think we might be just a bit overzealous because we've got SO MANY data integrity checks that many of them are probably not being reviewed.

    Hi Chris,


    We have dozens of Data Quality Queries, i.e. queries prefixed with DQ. (things volunteers can do)

    We also have SQL Updates that run on a daily basis to improve integrity (things we can do)

    We also have adhoc scripts which require some thought, e.g. donors give the same time every month should perhaps have a Recurring Gift (things the offices can do)


    It would be great to also know how others strategically 'dice' up the work. For example, do you split work by importance, by roles/responsibilities, by capabilities (as we have approached it)


    6 years in with BBCRM in 6 countries, I'd love to have some kind of external review to assess our Data Quality / Integrity. Always interesting to hear how others tackle it.
