List of Database View fields not in NXT Web View

Is there a definitive list somewhere that shows us what fields available in Database View are not yet in Web View?

For example, the Action Status appears to be missing from NXT web view, which is good to know for when we query actions...

  • I don't know of any resources, but I'm new to NXT and that would be SO HELPFUL!  Maybe we should add it as an idea?

Hi F O‍ & Laura Easterly‍ - there is a response on a forum post called "That new database smell... What would you do with a brand-new blank RE database?" that may be of interested for y'all.  Look for the post by Catherine Burns‍ - she included information on re-named fields and a few others that are missing from database view to webview.

Catherine - can you share a few more examples of the disconnects between the different views?

  • We are in the process of migrating from a locally hosted server to NXT. Part of this process involves rolling back an fields that you may have customized (hosted RE does not allow you to alias fields). I created the diagram below to map the changes in fields from our current version back to "vanilla" RE and ultimately how things appear in NXT. I hope this helps.

  • Austen BrownPatrick HuntCatherine Burns‍ Thank you so much for your answers!  These were all supremely helpful!

Catherine, my job function is reporting/analytics, and I've had that same frustration in several areas.  For the out of the box fundraising reports, the filtering is inconsistent across the reports.  This is especially frustrating because we share the database with our sister organization and so we have to filter all the reports in order to only represent our funds.  For some, we can just filter by the fund category (eight boxes), but on others we have to filter by each individual fund (close to 300) and that has to be updated every time we add a new fund.  ?

I think it's worth mentioning that the available fields in the web view is ever evolving.  I love the idea of the a list, but it would have to be updated pretty regularly.
  • Dariel Dixon‍ Yes, that's a good point.  I appreciate that they're updating things regularly, but it's also challenging because you're always having to go back and double-check to see if what you couldn't do before can be done now.  I think it's mostly a mindset shift, because we typically expect a new product to be do (most) everything that the old one did, and that's not the case this time around.
  • Thanks Catherine Burns‍ for the list and the tip about the Action Status :D

To add to the list - I don't see Note Author in NXT and a colleague mentioned they use that field often.

That chart looks helpful Patrick Hunt‍ - it would be great if Blackbaud had a similar chart or knowledgebase article that tracks what fields are in database view and not in NXT yet, and update it as they are added...
  • One thing we learned in expanding our system to use NXT is that Attachments in NXt are not available in RE Database view.

  • Yes, the attachment issue is pretty major. If you are going to allow people to add attachments in NXT I recommend you NEVER merge records in database view or you risk losing attachments. But you can now merge in web view and the attachments will be merged correctly.

Unfortunately there is also no way to query what records have NXT only attachments. We have implemented a constituent attribute that people need to add if they add attachments in NXT, and a business rule pops us a message in database view that tells users there are more attachments in NXT. But because this relies on user activity and cannot be monitored with queries it will be forgotten sometimes.
  • I know this is late to this conversation but it might help someone else… found this link, might be helpful.
