Automatic emails for new users

Hi everyone,


Does Blackbaud automatically generate and send emails to new account users? 


If not, how do you let families know what their usernames/passwords are? We want to communicate this to the parents of incoming 9th graders and transfer students.

    When you create accounts for your employees at blackbaud.com for support and training, they will get an automated email from Blackbaud.   When you create accounts in the SIS for your employees, students, and parents, there is no automated email sent. 


    At my school, beginning this year we will use the parent email address as the username. We are not assigning a password to parents - instead we will instruct them to use the "forgot my password" process to set their own.


    We use a program I wrote to send a mail-merge email with information about several things parents of new students need to know (computer account, deadlines for submitting medical information to Magnus Health, contact information for various offices, etc).  The program keeps track of which parents we already sent the email to, so that we can run the same program repeatedly as new students are enrolled. 


    I wrote the  program years ago for use with Education Edge API.  If I were starting over, I might do it using a mail merge tool. I like Yet Another Mail Merge for Google Sheets.
