Unable to process refunds

We are in the process of refunding 1,000+ orders and I keep getting the error message below or something similar no matter which customer's order I try to refund. What is going on? Help, please...


"Data could not be saved. Error: General system failure. This happened because the program could not process the credit card for the '$### Credit card, Visa #1883' payment."

    We're having the same issue here and our financial director has talked to Altru and it seems to be an issue they are working to resolve.  My guess is the system got overwhelmed with refunds recently since many of us have groups, parties, events, and rentals that are canceling.
