Marketing & Outreach Course Prerequisites

HI all,

I want to take the marketing and outreach course for NXT to strengthen our email usage and integrate data better. I ran into the need to take and pass the Fundamentals course (either RE or NXT) as a prerequisite. I took fundamentals in 2016 and since then my role has changed so I'm not using the database the same as I was 4 years ago. I was told I can take the exam as many times as needed from a person on chat. I'm thinking about taking the exam to see how I do on it. If I pass, great - I've retained a lot of information from those many years. If I don't I will have an idea of the areas I may need to place my focus.

So, my questions are as follows:

Has anyone taken the exam?

How did you prepare for it? Share helpful hints and/or tools for preparing and taking.

Would you recommend I add to/change my strategy for taking the exam?

I've taken both - our organisation only started using RE last year, so all the various fundamentals classes are relatively fresh in my mind. Before I took it, I had a flip through my notes from the fundamentals models - but that was about it.

So have a look through your notes from those Fundamentals classes - but also, it's an open book exam, so you can look up all of these things while you are taking it as well, if you don't remember particular areas well enough.
  • I recently returned to using RE after about seven years of not having used it.  I took the RE fundamentals exam with no studying.  Missed passing by one question on my first try, and passed on the 2nd try.  The first try had several questions about reports, which I wasn't familiar with, so I did the reports fundamentals training module before taking it again and on the second try there was only one reports question - go figure.

Anyway, my suggestion would be to give it a shot and see how you do.  Then decide what to study based on the sections you struggled with.  That way you're utilizing your study time wisely.  :)

    Hope this helps!
