Do you use the Assignments tab in any grades K-4?

Hi, We have used Assignments in our Middle School for years, but never in Lower School. Now, thrust into remote learning, I'm curious how schools using Assignments for lower grades are making it work well. We see how parents would greatly benefit from having assignments centralized in one place in Lower School. But currently we don't give students in K-4 their own log-in, so the utility of students being able to hand in work would be reduced.

  • Hello,

We rolled out assignments in 3-4 grade and encouraged teachers to help their students log on to portal just prior to spring break, in anticipation of a stay at home order.

Our 3-4 grade teachers have not really jumped on the new tool (I don't blame them, though i think it could have been helpful - we had a quick hour to talk about it before they left), so, like our PK-2 teachers, the 3-4 teachers post a news item on their homeroom once a week with all (or almost all) the assignments. Though getting everyone and everything into one place doesn't always happen, that's what our LS parents seem to like, especially if you can print it all at once. Getting our enrichment teams into that mix has been something to refine as well.

  • We use the assignment tab for K-5th grade, however due to parents wanting all assignments and activities for homeroom classes on one page we created a weekly template wich we post under topics under homeroom.  The assignment links are embedded into the  weekly template onto the homeroom page.  Our students cannot submit assignments directly on BB because they do not have student logins.  They use their parent's login  at this time.
