Campaign ID Structure/Examples

We are looking to build out our Campaign ID's and we have a mix between Campaigns that are based on fiscal year, some that are for multiple years, and others that will be used year over year.

Our desire is to have a code convention that makes it easy for searching as the codes grow over the years.  So for fiscal year Campaigns we are thinking something like this: 2 digits for fiscal year, 4 digits for identifier, and G or R for general or restricted.  That structure doesn't work out for the multiple year campaigns or campaigns that are not confined to a time-frame.

Any recommendations to make it easy for users to search for campaigns during gift entry and doing analytics?

    Ryan,

You may want to search the forum posts for others regarding structure. I've read posts from others describing things closer to your structure. To me, what you've described would be considered at the fund level. Our campaigns were more overall umbrellas similar to categories.
