New update - no longer retaining sort preferences
Since the last update, records and pages no longer retain preferred sort criteria, but keep defaulting to something else. This is really frustrating. It means every time I go to the Batch page, or Query page, or open up a constituent record and view their gift tab, I have to resort the data to show me what I'm looking for, when usually this is already sorted to my preferred criteria. Is anyone else noticing this, and can it be fixed?! I am working in Database view.

I was finding that it was sorting on the left-most column, so I just moved my preferred sort column to be all the way on the left and that seems to have sorted this out for me. It's a bit weird.8

Thank you Rachel Cavelier! It was driving me a bit crazy to have to keep sorting my gift batch page. Moving the date to the left worked. I had Batch numbers there, but I really wanted it sorted by date and until the last update it had always stayed sorted that way.1

It was driving me a bit crazy to have to keep sorting my gift batch page. This is exactly what was getting to me! Along with all the queries not being in date created order - alphabetical might make more sense, but there were in date order for so long that I just remembered where each one was lol

There is another conversation about this sort order issue here and I have had an open ticket with support since April 10. Rachel Cavalier, I'll add to your tip on moving your preferred column all the way to the left that for me I had to exit and sign out of RE and then sign back in for the change to stick.0

Please call support and let them know that you're having issues. The more people that report it the more helpful it is.3

Thank you Rachel and Dan! I tried to find another thread on this and couldn;t, I,ll need to get better at searching these boards. Rachel that temp fix is really useful, thank you.1

Oh dear, I tried moving the order of the columns, but it hasn't changed anything. It still insists on sorting by batch name, no matter where that column is. Same with my queries, it sorts by date created even though I want to sort by description. So frustrating!2

Milly Jones, I have found that the sorting only works in the tabs on a constituent record, but not in the queries or export sections, etc.. Also, make sure you exit and sign out of RE after you move your preferred sort column all the way to the left and sort it the way you would like. Something with signing out and back in seems to make these sorts stick, but I would agree with Elaine Tucker to please report this to support so we don't have to rely on a workaround, especially if you have already taken all these steps and it is still not working.3

Thanks all. After exiting and reopening, the sort by first column temp fix is working. I have opened a ticked with support, they say they are working on it but don't currently have an answer.0

Milly Jones Is the temp fix working in the Batch tab? Or just in different tabs on constituent records? I was able to get the Gifts, Notes, and Actions tabs on constituent records sorted, but no luck with Batch yet.0

Hi Linnea Oddie - yes, it,s working on the batch tab also.1

I just got an update from support that they are closing in on a solution, but still no timetable.4

It's a bit weird. Thanks so much for this insight, Rachel! I'm going to give this a try. It has been driving me NUTS when I'm on my gift records!

I have also noticed this, it's annoying, I hope they fix it soon.4

And they just broke everything AGAIN. They need to stop these so-called updates if they haven't fixed the existing problems!

I happened to be on the phone with a support analyst the other day. After we finished why she called me, I asked her about this problem about columns, sort orders, etc being gone after each update. She said unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done to stop that from happening. Stinks.0
