Creating a custom list (or selection) in BBCRM

Greetings,

I am trying to figure out the best way to create a custom list of constituents in BBCRM so we can email them through CRM or BBIS. They're diverse enough so that an automated query will not work to build a selection. There are a few ways to accomplish this. I am not sure this functionality exists in CRM, but is there a way to build a custom selection in CRM? If possible, we'd like to avoid tagging constituents with an attribute. Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Erik,

I would suggest importing a selection if you know the IDs fo the constituents you want included and then using that to produce your email.

We wrote a short little post about it, with instructions, https://www.brightvinesolutions.com/post/2018/11/28/blackbaud-crm-selection-import

I'm fairly new to CRM so it may be my ignorance speaking here, but it seems a bit redundant to export constituents and IDs, just to cull the list and reimport it back into the system. Do you think this is honestly the best way to do this?  I appreciate your time! Thanks.

  • Hi Erik,

There are a variety of ways to achieve your objective. Here are probably the easiest. You could create a selection using a "One-of" filter on the constituent record field, lookup id field, or any appropriate field. You could create a group, and add the constituents as members. As you noted, add an attribute or use an existing field such as constituency to tag each constituent, or a relationship to something, or whatever brings these constituents together. ...
