NXT Emails
Hi all - when an email bounces I understand the system 'suppresses' the address from future mailings, but does it change the address to Do Not Email? If not, is the only way to manually go through records and change the status? Or can this be accomplished with a global change?
We have multiple addresses for the same type ''email". If global change is the way to go how will I match the email I want to its import ID?

Great questions!
I want to make sure I'm clear. Are you talking about OLX or using the "new" email functionality within NXT? I'm replying in relation to Email Marketing within Webview/NXT.
My understanding is that it DOES NOT change the email address to Do Not Email. I'm sure you are aware that there are a couple types of bounces - Hard Bounce and Soft Bounce. While in OLX one can get info on Hard Bounce, Soft Bounce, and Unsubscribed, this functionality does not yet exist within NXT. It is an idea in the idea bank however.
Because one can't receive these distinctions, my understanding is that the system won't change those records to Do Not Email. Which is GOOD because if it is a soft bounce, you may still be able to reach them directly at that email address through a one-off email rather than a mass email that was soft bounced.
I haven't quite figured out *what* the mechanism is to handle bounces and unsubcribes in NXT EMail Marketing. I can see that one can make a List based on bounces and unsubscribe - but there doesn't seem to be a mechanism to make changes to records from that info. (Maybe others have a better idea?)
Regarding global changes to email types, it would be best practice to only have one email per email type. I've recently gone through the process of setting up our email types to be Email 1, Email 2, Email 3 etc... with the constituents preferred email as Email 1. And each record can only have one email per email type. When set up like this it is much easier to make changes to your data through global change.
Alternatively, you can create an Import File and bring out the PhoneAddrImpID for that email type along with the email, make changes in Excel, and then import back in. But with now way to match it up against a list from NXT of which email address bounced, it probably won't do you any good.
In OLX, one can export a list to CSV of bounces and unsubscribes. This functionality does not yet exist in NXT.
Overall, I think the functionality (relating to managing email addresses, bounces, and unsubscribes) within OLX is of a higher caliber than that of Email Marketing within NXT, which is why I'm continuing to use OLX. Once the functionality is further built, I'll make the change over.
So all of this is a long way of saying that maybe NXT Email Marketing isn't the best option to use at this time - depending on how clean/dirty your email addresses are. Have you been using OLX at all? There are certainly pros & cons to both.
