Deceased list RE NXT

Is it possible to create a list that can be sorted/filtered by deceased donors?

Currently, I see that you can included deceased on a report, but when exported to excel there is no indication of that donor being deceased or not.

Thanks,

Karrie

Karrie Cornies‍ aside from creating a static query in the database view and then creating a new list from it in NXT I'm failing to see a way to group the deceased in NXT yet. And even then if you were to export it from NXT there would be no indicator. I thought maybe it might have been listed under Tag - but it is not.

We can see it easily at our organization as we have had a long time (well over my 14 years at this org) policy of adding (deceased) to the name when someone passes.

If you create an idea for it and post it here I'll vote for it as I have subscribed.

    With piqued curiosity,

  • Thanks Elizabeth for your response.

We currently only mark as deceased. I was thinking we could add a category under custom field, we could then generate a report.

Do you think this is a good option? It is an extra step but I think would do the trick. Would love to hear your thoughts.

    Thanks,

    Karrie

Hi Karrie Cornies‍, I think it would work as a great temporary measure. It would be a cinch to add it to every record globally. It would be an easy audit query to check to see when that information is missing. It would allow you to achieve your goal on to filter on it in NXT and you can add it to your output.

I try not to have too many attributes now that NXT shows so few at a time. How I work around that with my database is I start what I would consider data processing attributes name with a "z_" that way the fundraisers can see the custom fields that are the most important to them on the first screen.

I haven't seen the latest NXT roadmap but I'm guessing that since this doesn't seem to be in the idea bank that it is probably not rolling out soon.  If it is in the roadmap or if someone else has found another workaround that isn't as antiquated as mine it would be great to hear how others weigh in.

Also still an excellent idea to add it to the idea bank.

    Hope this helps,

    Elizabeth

Like Elizabeth Johnson‍ stated, it would be somewhat temporary.  It's a pity that you have to create a custom field/attribute just to see data that exists in other places.  *sigh*  That list of items seems longer than it should be, and there's no way to determine when those fields will show up.

It goes without saying that this report might be easier to create in database view, where you could just use the "Deceased" field in your output, but I understand not everyone is comfortable in the database view or has access to it or query.
