Value out of wealth screening/integration with ResearchPoint or Wealthengine
Hi, I'm new to Raiser's Edge. We just finished integrating ResearchPoint with Raisers Edge and now are working on integrating Wealthengine into Raisers Edge. It seems like step one is to prepare a list or report in the wealth screening applications (either ResearchPoint or Wealthengine) and then sync or import the contents into Raisers Edge. How does this process work in your organization? Like does your team tell you what prospects to screen in either of the applications and then you perform an import/sync with Raisers Edge? What has been your experience? Where do you see the most value?

We are a health care foundation and run a filtered list of our patients through DonorSearch screening (We've used WE in the past but prefer DS). Our database is in DS so they can flag any patients that are already in our RE which is huge for us.
Let me backtrack. First thing we do is import our constituents into DS as our VIP file which is used in our screenings. Our Inner Circle file is filled with board members and other leaders. These are given an Inner Circle attribute in RE. We also screen our database once or twice a year and import 8 ratings into their prospect tab, ratings. if we have a prospect and they are screened, the ratings are manually entered. If it is a long list of constituents, I'll import the ratings.
We use the ratings in most of our reports for gift officers.1 -
Value is very hard to determine. It really comes down to how much you trust the ratings and the values given. In my experience, I've found ResearchPoint's ratings to be more conservative than WealthEngine (We currently use WE, but we do have a starter subscription to RP with our NXT contract).
WealthEngine doesn't intergrate with RE at all. Only ResearchPoint has an automatic sync with RE. But the process is pretty much how you describe it. You may need to create some table entries for the rating types that are coming in from WE. I generally prefer NOT to screen prospects with both tools, unless they are of extreme interest. I've found that it tends to be too much data, and sometimes inconsistent between the two.
If you have both tools, and are looking to more to pick one over the other, I'd suggest picking a constituent that you are very familiar with to screen. If you have an idea of what their wealth is really like, you can use that to measure against to determine how the ratings1 -
Thank you Mark Guncheon and Dariel Dixon for your inputs. I liked the idea that you can do a grateful patient list screening with any of the Wealth Screening tools and then add it to the RE database. We eventually plan to get rid of one of the tools. My inclination towards WealthEngine is the fact that you can train the model based on your existing donor data to look for prospects of similar types. That seems to be an advantage. I'm not sure if you can train ResearchPoint to look for prospects based on existing data (will have to explore).0

A quick update - we finished integration of Raiser's Edge and WealthEngine. The WealthEngine attributes now show in the Attributes tab of Raiser's Edge. It is an export/import process from one application to another. However, my experience is that there is not enough documentation on the integration piece, and also outdated. I have developed a technical note on the integration piece if someone is interested. I'd be happy to assist. Please feel free to PM me.0
