Has anybody been able to setup using Google Assignments or Course Kit in Assignments for OnCampus.

We have the Google Drive feature setup, but I would like to use the new Google Assignments as it makes it easy to share and make copies of assignments for students. It uses what Google used to call Course Kit. I think I have the LTI setup correctly, but I am not sure how the teachers would use it when they create an assignment.

Hi -- I am also trying to setup Google Assignments LTI as a Learning Tool. I added it as an Other Provider, using the URL, Key and Secret I generated. I can select it as an option when I create an assignment, and when I view the assignment in Blackbaud, it has a link to launch Assignments. Clicking the link takes me to Assignments but I get a message to contact my administrator because it is not set up correctly. I'm submitting this question to Support now.

This is verbatim where I am, as well. Earnestly hoping someone gets a positive answer. Also am trying to set up GitHub classroom, but it is not pulling the roster.

Been going round and round on this myself. GDrive set up is fine, but in order to fully integrate assignments (which includes grading that I DONT need) there is no clear path yet at BB. Any one having any luck please post. Not sure why BB can't leverage Google Classroom API... help!

It is unclear what happened on my end, but this morning Google Assignments started working. Some things like Due Date and Points are not getting pushed when the assignment is being made, but I am not going to complain too much. I was able to make an Google assignment, have it show up in Google, use a fake student to submit and resubmit, and then finally post their grade in Google Assignments which pushed back to BB. Note that GA defaults to 100 points (and can be changed). Thus if you make a BB assignment using GA and set it as 4 points in BB, grade it as 60/100 in GA, it comes back to your BB gradebook as 2.4/4.

Lisa, I agree that it would be nice if BB played into the Google Classroom API a bit and allowed us to push/pull roster and grades between the two. There is a help file

that talks about integrating google apps; I have not gone down that rabbit hole yet because there is some buy-in for both a change in authentication procedures and "For a set up fee and monthly subscription, you can integrated them with your 'Blackbaud's Education Management' products." [sic]

Will need to get BB on the phone to really determine what those integrations add on the BB end.

I am so glad to hear that it is working for you.
What is the process that links the google assignment to the
Blackbaud assignment? I have "Google Assignments" in the dropdown
for Learning Tool and then do I just paste the link to the Google
Assignment in the link area of the Blackbaud assignment? Any
assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I got BB on the phone yesterday, and it sounds like those Google Education Apps are no longer supported.

Nathaniel, the workflow goes like this

0. Register for the beta of Google Assignments (GA)

1. In GA, generate the necessary keys for LTI

2. Configure the LTI under Core in BB using keys from 1.

3. In a course in BB, create an assignment and use GA as a learning tool

4. In the instructor assignment center for that course, click the link for the assignment and then "Launch"

5. You will be dropped in GA (if properly configured). Set up the assignment there.

Hey all - I don't mean to drive this off topic, but can you all share what features in Google Assignments (and Google Classroom and Google Course Kit) that you are excited about that you can't achieve with the Blackbaud LMS?

1. Google Assignments allows plagiarism detection natively (no need to use Turnitin)

2. Through a Beta, one can do plagiarism detection against documents from your domain.

3. Students can use the plagiarism detection (three times) prior to a submission. This turns the process into one of learning rather than a punitive afterthought.

4. The instructor can give feedback (google comments) on a document; the student can respond to that feedback and resubmit their document. Note a document can be a slideshow, paper, spreadsheet, pdf, or even source code for programming. Also, the feedback can come from a comment bank so as to minimize having to retype comments for common, recurring errors.

5. The rubric setup for a given assignment is streamlined and sensible.

It does have its drawbacks in terms of ease of use. I would be delighted if BB had the kind of continuous feedback/submit/resubmit model with filetypes of *very* diverse types.
