prmoting seniors to graduates

Is anyone running into NOT being able tp promote their seniors to graduates?  I am working with BB support and I am told this is an ongoing issue system wide, which is maddening.  I am unable to produce final transcripts that include the graduation date and degree.  Support just sent me a "work around" - that I am very hesitant to do -
1. Core>people finder>graduating student's profile
2. Access tab>click the pencil beside their student persona>select "withdraw"

3. Withdraw the student as an "alumni" with a depart date set on or later than 7/01/2020.

Has anyone used this "work around"?  Was a graduation date and degree populated on the final transcript?

  • I am having a similar problem. I have completed a student's degree on the Requirements tab and assigned completed and graduation dates, but her transcript still shows the degree "In progress" with an expected graduation date.

I suspect this is part of an ongoing issue with the Requirements tab being very buggy...I have a case out on it that I submitted right as the Corona lockdowns started so I suspect it had to be put on the back burner to provide support for everyone being thrust into online learning.
  • Hi Ross Knudsen‍,

When you get a response from Support we would love to hear about it in the Community.

  • I did get an answer today. It did reveal one issue I could check for and fix on my end. Unfortunately, it did not solve my problem.
  • I have been sent a few "work arounds" that I do not want to try just yet, as there has to be a solution -- right?  This is extremely frustrating as it effects several things I am trying to accomplish. (And this is an annual task so having it work correctly is a must.)  For example, if I cannot promote the seniors will I be able to promote my juniors to seniors?  Thanks for the feedback, all.
  • Ross - where does it pull the degree from for the transcript?  The "Degree" line is set up in our transcript template, but it is not showing at all on an actual student transcript.
  • They come from the degrees set up at Academics > Grades > Grading Setup > Degree/Area of Study and assigned to the student in their record on the Requirements Tab.
  • Thanks, Ross.  That is how we have it set up.  :)
  • This is STILL not resolved and has led to other issues (yes, support tickets are in) -- come on Blackbaud!  I finally had to manually graduate each student (in order to promote our other students), changing each to an alumni under the access tab.  I then was given direction to use the Requirements tab and edit the "completed/conferred on" dates to show that the degree was completed (and for that information to then populate on the transcript).  I can no longer get to the Requirements tab for these students; I get the white screen with "flashing" green dot.  This issue of NOT being able to correctly graduate our seniors and produce accurate transcripts for them has gone on way too long.  UGH.  (Thanks for listening.)
  • Hi Stephanie Boon‍,

While I am not a product expert, I am happy to check with the owners of your support tickets.  Can you please send the ticket numbers to me in a private message so I can forward them to an internal teammate to review?

Hi Stephanie, about the requirements tab for Alumni, try to change their role back from Alumni to Student. You can do this in Core>People Finder>Edit Enrollment (Click on the pencil under Persona tab)>Mark the student checkbox

As Ross mentioned, the Requirements tab is not fully developed. For that reason I removed the Requirements tab from the Student portal.

I was on the same situation like you and Ross.

I got the same workaround from support and it worked for me but I found other issues on transcripts, for example, we are not able to add the Conferred date and we are not able to add more than 2 Degrees / Majors.

About Classifications, we ended doing them manually. I was expecting dealing with classifications in an automatic way accordingly with the earned credit hours but it is not the case.

    I understand your frustration.

  • Thanks, Ricardo.... someone at Blackbaud took the reins and "fixed" our seniors (several issues; I feel like one issue led to another) -- not at all the resolution I was looking for, but they are done.  I can finally get our class of 2020 a final transcript. Hoping next year goes much smoother.
