Creating a Nanny Pass progam

Hi! We are discussing the creating of a Nanny Pass program. Currently, we track additional Authorized Users as a pop-up note. We would like to switch to a paid nanny pass program. It looks like the recommended methods are either adding a Additional Member add-on or as a Merchandise item. I would really appreciate it if someone who has done this with either of these routes (or any other method) please provide me with feedback on the best way for us to proceed with this. Any advice would be fantastic!

    Hey Christina! My name is Ben and I work at the Natural History Museum of Utah. Similar to what you are describing, we offer an additional card for a childcare provider to certain levels of our membership program. We created additional membership levels for these, and adjusted "number of members" and "number of cards" to 3, and the price to be $10 more than the same membership level without a childcare provider.     We are a children's museum so have a lot of requests to have a grandparent, relative, or other caregiver added to a family membership.  We have added a membership add on to some of our membership levels for a flex member that can be purchased for $25 at the time the membership is purchased or renewed.  Eligible memberships can have up to two flex member add-ons.  For anyone who wants to add a flex member mid-term, there is also a merchandise item that can be sold.  The caregiver is then added to the membership and we create a relationship noting them as a caregiver.

    A few things to consider. I believe Member Add-ons can only be added at time of membership purchase and would not be able to add on later in the year. Another option is to have a different membership level that they can upgrade to. 

    If you sold as a merchandise item, you may need to update inventory periodically. Merchandise can't be sold online, so the members would need to visit or call in to add. As merchandise, you'd still need to go through additional set up to make sure the nanny could have a card and receive member benefits. 

    The last museum I worked at was a children's museum and we ended up changing our memberships levels to be based on total number of people. for example, a 4 person membership could have 3 children and 1 adult, or 3 adults and 1 child, etc. It worked very well and provided the flexibility needed.
