The Simplest of Donation Forms

Showcase time! ?

Does anyone have an example of a simple one page donation form that gets processed by Blackbaud Merchant Services that looks like:

- Donation Amount

- First Name, Last Name

- E-mail Address

- Card Number, Expiration, CSC

[SUBMIT]

Everything else I see appears to requires a billing address and/or separate first name & last name with cardholder first name  & cardholder last name.

Is it possible to build a form with just those seven fields above?

NXT Donation Forms or Online Express Forms are welcome. Drop a link! Share some inspiration!

  • Hi,

I think that is because in most countries there are legal requirements over money laundering etc. that require you to know the address details of your donors. The only shortcuts are to use things like PayPal donate buttons where the address details are held already by the payment provider already usually. You can do that and with something like Blackbaud APIs or our SmartSYNC pull the gifts into RENXT automatically.

    Cheers

  • Hi Kevin,

Besides Warren's comments below about fraud protection -- in Canada, we are required to have the donor's address in order to issue a tax receipt. I see you are in the US and I'm not familiar with US tax law, but I'm guessing there may be something similar in place there if the donor wants a tax credit for the donation?

  • Hi everyone -

At the risk of turning into another one of those "well, they're doing it - so technically why can't we?" discussions.... ?

    Anyone familiar with Donate2?

I'm looking to see if we can replicate that minimalistic one page user interface.

Here's an example that you can check out:

(hopefully this is allowed - not my site)

It looks like they just require a billing name, e-mail address, and credit card information. (ignore the Apple Pay part)

I do understand the fraud protection arguments for including the address (which comes down to configured AVS and CVC check levels) and tax receipt concerns (which can always be requested) but is there a way, using strictly RENXT or OLX, to leave them out like the link above?

Or is this not possible in the RE environment?

    Thanks everyone.

I think it's important to note that these rules are dependent on the processor used.  With regards to OLX, you are forced to use Blackbaud Merchant Services.  What data is needed to process is more than likely also related to the processing fees as well.  I'm not sure what Donate2 uses and what their fee structure is, but I wouldn't imagine it to be a completely 1::1 comparison.

To make a long story short, I don't think it possible with NXT/OLX and BBMS/BBPS being what they are right now.
