Matching gifts

Has anyone came up with a method to identify the constituent that a matching gift is intended for when receiving a matching gift donation without any information with it.


I can of course just call the compnay I received it from, but was wondering if there was any good querying tips out there?

    You may need to call. :)  If it's a new MG company for you querying for companies with MG won't pull any thing. A query could tell you what records you do have that match. 


    Some companies have online portal that details their matching gifts. Does this one? 


    Once you learn who made the original gift, make a MG link from the individual to the company.  That way you'll have a record to check for an original gift when you get a MG from that company again.

    There is a record for this MG company but it is BARE with no connections attatched. 


    They do not have a portal sadly like some other companies that I have experienced. But a couple phone calls a day to seek out answers keeps me sociable!

    It may not have any relationships. (ours rarely do - something I want to fix)  Does it by chance have any past gifts with a type of MG? Might give you a place to start.

    No luck! None of the past gifts led to any leads. It did key me into an even much bigger issue with a record! Haha, the life of database manager :)

    LOL, yep, always seems that there is more to fix/correct/update. 


    Note, regarding relationships to MG. For us not on as a relationship because MG often comes from the company foundation. We haven't bothered to create a separate relationship with the foundations. They are linked to the individual when entering a gift it opens to create a MG.
