New Text Editor - Can't Paste in Pictures Anymore

Did anyone else rely on being able to paste pictures into News text fields via Google Docs? All our faculty did--with the great feature that the pictures would go out in the Notification email to parents. With the new text editor, which is great visually, that function is lost; the pictures don't paste in. Anyone have any idea for a workaround? Or can Blackbaud bring it back?

A teacher at my school found that on MacOS he was not able to paste images in Chrome but could paste in Safari.

I have not tested it yet on other browsers/OS combinations.

  • And it seems to have broken a bunch of push page functions as well. Can't format pictures that you insert, can't edit news, calendar items, etc. Created ticket yesterday.
  • Hi folks, just an update on this. It is partially fixed in that if you copy and paste an image by itself it will paste fine. If you copy and paste formatted text it works fine. However, if you copy and paste a combination of both as in the example below, it will insert all of the formatted text and leaves a space for the images. Not ideal to not be able to do a select and paste all at the same time, and we’ll continue having dev troubleshoot but at least in the interim it will work if you do all the text in one step and paste the images in separately.

    And some other stuff

  • Every single one of our 6-12 teachers have been copying and pasting weekly frameworks they build in tables into the Text box of the News on the Bulletin Board every week.  Especially during online and hybrid learning, it's crucial to have a consistent location where students and parents can go to find out what's coming up for the week.  Our "coming this week" posts have been well received.  It was so successful last spring our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade teachers joined this method of communication via the blog-like news feed this fall.  Now teachers cannot copy and paste their tables with information into the new text editor.  They tried to use the inline table icon, but the boxes are so tiny, it's difficult. Mostly, they prefer to do their planning and building of these tables in google docs or an outside word processor and copy and paste.  Many of them created their plans over the summer so they would have a leg up on starting the year.  Unfortunately, I've received lots of phone calls, emails, and frustration due to the loss of functionality here.  The best we could come up with was grabbing screenshots of their work.  It's a helpful work-around, but mostly, they are frustrated they have lost this ability to cut and paste tables into the News feed.  Will this also be fixed?
  • Hi Angie,

I just had a teacher reach out saying they are unable to add images to text boxes.  I tested it out on a bulletin board Text box in both Chrome and Safari. Safari works, but Chrome does not.  I initially tried to paste text, than an image in two separate steps and it did not work.  Then I I tried to paste an image only (no additional text) and it still didn't work in Chrome. Any thoughts as to why?   Thanks!
  • Hi Nancy,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. The best next step would be for you to open a ticket with support, and we can take a look into it.

    Thanks,

    Ben
  • Hi all, I know you've been waiting for the resolution on the copy/paste functionality issues for a couple months now and am sorry it's taken so long. Hopefully it will be a good intro to the year to hear that we finally did get the agreement for the TinyMCE paid subscription approved in the last week of Dec and so will be updating the configuration to that very soon - I'm hoping end of month. Then fingers crossed no further issues that we found with their free version as the full subscription has their Powerpaste feature (that you used to have in the older one) for pasting text and images with formatting all at once, no more workarounds and buggy behavior. Cheers!
