Budget Creator Add In

I am trying to use the Budget Creator Add In to edit an existing budget. I have used it successfully before. Now I keep getting a red msg saying "an error has occurred". Nothing in the worksheet is highlighted like what usually happens with a JE. I have no idea what the error is. I have tried creating the worksheet multiple times.

  • There are a few "quirky" things with the Budget Creator add in, but it is definitely worth using.
    • Rounding - make sure that the months equal the total exactly. You may need to use the round formula with with no more than 2 decimals.
    • Account restrictions - accounts cannot violate Project account restrictions
    • Extra rows - I have had success with deleting the last few rows, even if they are blank. You cannot have information in a row if all the required fills do not have data.
    • Excel may encounter an expected error - Close out of Excel when finished with imports and don't have other unnecessary spreadsheets open. (I use Microsoft 365
If none of these help, I can look at your import file. Post a screen shot or you can send me your spreadsheet via email.
  • Make sure there are no blank cells; use a 0 where needed.
  • Thanks for the hints. I have run into those issues with the JE creator. This is still a mystery. I deleted the extra rows and started a fresh blank workbook and still the error. Contacting chat help AGAIN.
  • Hi Jennifer,

Our CFO is trying to import a budget for the first time, using the Excel Add-On with Microsoft 365 and when she hits submit, it says “please correct these errors” and 1 column has a few cells in red, but there isn't any additional information on what the error is. Wondering if you have any troubleshooting tips we could try. Thanks in advance!

  • Most of the time when I get the red cells, it is because the account is in my budget software, but it is not in FE.
  • Thank you! It ended up being that the cells were set to round after 5 decimals.
