SKY API Triggering AddressFinder?

We are using the SKY API to feed in constituent records. We recently noticed an address that was updated, but the record still has the "has no valid addresses" flagged. Does anyone know if the SKY API triggers the AddressFinder to update that field? Trying to figure out if it's a bug or what. Thanks!

  • I'm a bit unclear on your process.  Let me paraphrase what I think you're saying:

You have a process to update constituent addresses using SKY API.  Your processes updated the address on one of your constituent records (and I'm assuming the change went through successfully and you can see the address on the constituent record), but the constituent record is still flagged with "no valid address".

    Do I have that right?
  • Yes Ben, that's correct.
  • Hi Nick,

I ran some tests in my environment, and I've been unable to duplicate this.  When I add a valid address via the API, the 'Has no valid address' box is automatically unchecked.  If I set that address to Do Not Mail, the box is checked again.  If I add a second valid address via the API, it once again unchecks the box.

The only suggestions I have may well be things you've already tried.  I'd double-check every step of the process

    - if you are accidentally adding addresses with the do_not_mail parameter set to True instead of False, this could be the cause of the problem

    - make sure the address is being added to the constituent you think it is

    - make sure the address actually is valid

    - open the constituent record and double check that a valid address is listed, and that at least one address has the 'Send mail to this address' box checked

    That's all I've got!
