Duplicate Absences

Hello, hoping someone can help with this. As attendance manager, my entries used to override a teacher's entries. For example, in a day, a student can be marked absent by 5 teachers. If I receive notice after 2 classes have passed that a student will be out all day, I have been able to enter a full-day absence with notations and that would override the other absences that had been entered that day. Now, I am noticing that this has changed as I found a student with 7 absences in one day even though they only have 5 class periods. Absences are being duplicated. So now I have to manually adjust absence codes and notes for each class, or the student could potentially end up with 10 absences in a day when they only have 5 class periods. I am also having to go back though all of our absences this year to find and correct previous occurrences of this since I don't know when the change was made. I attempted to contact support, but they didn't understand why I would enter an absence after the teacher had entered an absence and they indicated it has always been this way. I am positive it hasn't. Is it possible this is a setting that can be adjusted?
