What 1099 Box Number to Use for 2021 Nonemployee Compensation?

I am using Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT -- the patch 38 has been installed with the new 1099-NEC forms and we are good to go as far as reporting nonemployee compensation for 2020.


However, now I am entering invoices for 2021 and the box numbers have not been updated in the invoice entry module. When I select box 7 for nonemployee compensation, I receive an error. I am afraid to use box 1 because I don't know if it will correctly translate onto the new 1099-NEC. 


The only temporary solution I could come up with was to track the 1099 payments myself, then make adjustments as needed when FE NXT has been updated with the new box numbers.


Any other solutions?

    We are aware of and are currently working on an issue where the updated box descriptions are intermittently not showing in FE NXT webview for some clients; https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/195249.  It sounds like you may be running into this issue.  Our expectation is that the new box descriptions show in web view which should what you see consistently once this issue is resolved.


    Although not ideal, in the meantime invoices can be entered in through database view to record them with the updated 1099 box descriptions.

    As a quick update, this issue has been resolved.  You should be able to use the new 1099 box numbers in FE NXT now without issue.
