Google Classroom

Has anyone been able to have Google Classroom feed into BB LMS...specifically the gradebook and possibly assignments.  Any information is greatly appreciated!

  • Moved this forum post to the LTI/OneRoster thread in hopes of getting more product specific eyes & replies...
  • We would also really appreciate this functionality.  The simplicity of Google Classroom is preferred by our teachers, but having to create assignments in both platforms is frustrating.
  • Would also be interested in hearing if anyone has any luck using OnRoster and Google Classroom to "sync" up assignments, classes, etc.
  • This doesn't seem to be getting a lot of traction here and we are running into some real considerations and training for the upcoming school year.  Having this in place to be able to train on it would be a great advantage to all if it will work.  Can anyone share a successful experience or anyone have any technical advice?  Would love to be able to marry the Education Management and Google Assignment for those that want to use both and not do double entry.
  • Google Assignments LTI works via the LMS, not through a OneRoster sync. The assignments and grading do go back into the LMS when using the LTI tool. This does not have all of the functionality of Google Classroom, however. I am being told by Blackbaud that it is up to Google to get the OneRoster sync to work with Blackbaud's LMS. Google simply told me that Blackbaud is not one of the LMS's they have completed this for yet and that I was welcome to submit it as a feature request (which I already have done). They also told me to sign up for a beta program to get the Google gradebook sync for Blackbaud's LMS which I had also already done. Has anyone heard anything different from this?
  • I am very new to creating the LTIs in BB. Can anyone help me with the proper way to setup the credentials and where in google admin I find the link info?
  • You have to go to Core --> Settings --> Integration Settings and add a Google Assignments Learning Tools. I believe you also have to set up the Google Drive Integration first in the same general area first to get this to work.
  • Mark,
We have the google drive integration done and that was painful to set up. I created the google classroom lti but i dont know what credential type to pick or what to set up on the google side.

  • Hi Karin,

If you follow the directions here: https://assignments.google.com/admin

It should show you how to generate the consumer key and shared secret for assignments. I am assuming used signed up for the Assignments program and they approved you.

This will give you step by step for all of the directions for the LTI setup. I sued the directions for Canvas to help me.

I personally would call my LTI Google Assignments. I have signed up for a beta program that would connect the grade book and assignments directly from Google Classroom back to the Blackbaud LMS but I've only heard that they haven't completed that work to get it to sync to Blackbaud so far. This would allow a teacher to work in Google Classroom rather than using the LTI method.
  • I believe someone asked for the link for the beta program to sync assignments and grades from Google Classroom back to Blackbaud's LMS. This is different from the Google Assignments LTI which actually pushes the assignments from the LMS out to using G-Suite apps but this doesn't impact Google Classroom at all. Here is the beta link that I have.

  • New to this discussion and we are in the same situation.  Our teachers are using Google Classroom this year as the LMS and double posting assignments and grades back into Blackbaud's LMS.  Was wondering if anyone has any updates on a possible sync between the two to alleviate the double entries for them.  I am just starting the process so any information would be appreciated.
