Having donors pay credit card fees

Has anyone utilized any outside vendors, like this one I found somewhere here in the forum https://www.smartthing.org/platform/online-express/ to set up an option to have the donor pay the credit card fees? Is Online Express ever going to have this be an option at an point? Thanks for any info/help anyone has on this.

    smartthing has a free feature to add Donor Cover to OLX FORMS.  You can download the code from here:https://www.smartthing.org/smartdonorcover/

    We work with Salsa, they offer this option to online donors.

    If you go to www.smartthing.org  they have a "FREE DONOR COVER" script that you can add to the OLX script and it allows for Donor Cover.

    For those of you who are already using SmartThing or another vendor to allow donors to cover credit card fees,  how are you entering the gifts in RE.  Is is two seperate gifts; one for the original gift and the other for a designated gift for credit card fees? Or do you simply enter the entire gift as one gift to the selected fund?  We are integrated with FE and would like to implement SmartDonor cover, but we are unsure on how to code the gift on the RE and FE side.  Thanks.

    Hi,


    I can outline how the SmartDONORCOVER OLX product works by default if that helps. This is, as I say, the default - we do have other options via our paid for SmartPORTAL/SmartSYNC products that allows for all sorts of gift splitting/manipulation to occur on the way to RENXT.


    The gift comes in as a single gift to the OLX plugin for the total amount paid by the donor (as that is what they paid so is the true gift amount). On that gift is a gift attribute with the transaction fee amount. There are no gift splits applied. The gift from this point goes into a gift batch as per normal OLX processing. When in the batch you can see the gift amount, transaction fee amount etc. so can make any changes before committing the gift - this could be applying gift splits or any other processing.

    We are looking at offering an option for donors to cover the credit card fee as well. We use OLX and are considering switching to Classy with Omatic to integrate with RE. Has anyone tried this solution?
