Formatting of phone numbers on EMS forms- We need your feedback!

  • Same here, our format is xxx-xxx-xxxx and we spell out words, no abbreviations. Would definitely appreciate the settings option to choose what our school prefers. It usually has to match up to the Communications department so when we export info it does not have to then be edited to match their criteria.
  • Hi everyone! We definitely want to move toward allowing schools to ultimately choose how these items are formatted. Our recent change is a tiny baby step to at least give some consistency. It matches up with what we have in RE and was the overwhelming choice from our schools. We will be revisiting in a bigger way down the road.

    thank you,

    Sarah
  • Thought I would comment on a recent application processing issue we received this morning around the new formatting of phone numbers. If you are going to "format" a phone number, it needs to at least adhere to the minimum number of digits or have some sort of field checking to make sure it is entered correctly. Please see below, the example from this morning. I believe this should have resulted in an error message to the parent that the field is not entered correctly. We are basically guessing at this point, what the correct phone number should be.

As it stands right now, since our formatting is xxx-xxx-xxxx, we still have to "touch" each phone number that is processed in through applications. Additionally, we have to decide wether to move forward with converting all of our existing phone numbers to the new format (xxx) xxx-xxxx or to try and continue to correct each one as it comes in.
  • Hi Sara,

Is there a glitch right now with inputting zeros? The inquiry form won't accept any zeros that I type in. I'm trying to see if it is my device or the form. I don't think it is my device because the zero works while typing it elsewhere. Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Amy
  • I cannot input "0" either. It was a glitch yesterday and I am still unable to submit an inquiry. Support is helping me today.
  • Thanks Coco, I'm glad to hear it is not only me.
  • Yes. We normally have (333) 333-3333, ext. 3333.
  • Sarah Bienvenue‍,

I've noticed that the tab function doesn't work to move over to the next field from the phone number field. Do you think this is also a glitch in the implementation? All other fields the tab function works.

    Thanks,

    Amy
  • @Sarah Bienvenue
I know this is from 2021, but I'd like to know if there are plans to allow for choosing formatting for all/more of these input fields. We have to do a lot of data cleanup from applications, forms, profile changes, etc.

Re: applications specifically, it would also make it easier if more fields were available to update from “Edit Users” when processing applications. Addresses, for a start.

Hi @Daniel Wallach - if you have the Country field on your Application or Inquiry form in the address block and United States is selected (which is the default), it will format the number as (000) 000-0000.

For expanded fields via the “Edit Users” option, please add that to the idea bank https://blackbaudk12.ideas.aha.io
