Trying to change our contract and Altru will not work with us

We need to change our three year contract to one year and Altru refuses to work with us. Anyone else having this issue?

  • Generally, it's hard to get out of contracts once you've signed them. Not just for Blackbaud but for any company.


    If there are extenuating circumstances, you should talk to your customer success rep to see if anything can be done.
  • It shouldn't matter that it's been signed. Things change and Altru isn't holding up their end of the deal. My insurance company is asking that we move on from Altru. Do they really want such an unhappy customer posting things like this?
  • Why does your insurance company want you to leave Altru?
  • BTW, I'm guessing you can negotiate a buy out of your contract. I don't know about Blackbaud specifically, but that's usually what has to happen in these types of situations.
  • Are you trying to change the term for a renewal of a contract? Or are you trying to opt out of an existing term?

    Usually there is language about termination options in a contract. Is there a clause about that and if so, what does it say?
  • We are considering changing systems and had many, many conversations with Blackbaud reps about it. It took a lot of emails and phone calls back and forth, but we were eventually able to get them to do a one year contract
