Messaging to explain new gift visibility restriction
We are changing our visibility on gifts to go from an 'all' visibility to a restriction of seeing only one campaign for many of our RE users. Anyone have advice on how to message this change in a positive way to the users???

Thoughts - assuming the change is when viewing a record.
You may notice a difference in the amount of data you see when accessing constituent records. This change provides you a cleaner view of the data you need to see for your work/project with the XX campaign.
We have made this and other changes to ensure/provide additional privacy and security for your record and all our constituents.
Not sure what your exact reasoning is so just shooting from the hips.?2 -
As legal and social trends challenge nonprofits to advance in providing the highest quality privacy, transparency, and security for our staff and donors, our team has begun implementing new security protocols modeled on industry best practices. Because of this, you may observe a difference in your account settings or constituent views as we work to ensure that each account has optimal access customized to their specific user role. If you have any questions or suggestions please reach out to me directly at (email) so that we can do our best to support you in your respective functions.2

I don't see thing as being a problem. This decision was made for some reason, whether that is just for better security or for another reason. What the reasoning is might not matter ultimately. I think it is generally best to just state that we are making a change, and to contact you if there is an issue. I don't think most of your users will know, or even particularly care. Do you anticipate this being a difficult issue Laura Hinze, and if so, why? I would just notify them and not anticipate any problems.

We tried this before and all heck broke loose with the users. Just an FYI that people do not like to have visibility of information taken away from them - we have proof of that! But thanks for weighing in. I was leaning on security but that does reflect badly as they know the data is being entered but we have removed the particular user from seeing it - suspicion on their part is we don't trust them when the actual case is they frankly have no business seeing gifts that have nothing to do with them but are attributed to their donors... tricky one this......0

From Donors Bill of Rights:VI. To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
I understand your situation. No, they don't like losing access/rights/view. That's why I think I would come more from the privacy they would expect for their own information in the same situation. I'd approach from how these changes benefit them. If users can see it as a privacy benefit for their own data, they tend to be a little more open to the idea. Security can be thrown in too.0 -
Just a quick comment on this. You can restrict user access to gifts by Fund, but not by campaign. Unless I've missed something? I honestly haven't used that functionality in about 20 years, but I do not believe you can set any gift security by the Campaign.
