Updating Constituent Code

Hey there,


How would somebody go about changing a Constituent Code from A to B? We currently have a few Constituent Codes that should be mutually exclusive.


The Connector doesn't seem to allow us to drop and create a new Constituent Code, nor does it allow us to update a Constituent Code from one value to another (only allows us to update dates).


What would be the best method then through Power Automate?

    This isn't something you can do with the Automate connector at this time. You would need to delete Code A and add Code B, but Blackbaud hasn't been putting any delete actions into their connector so far. As you've found, the Update action only allows you to update date and sequence, not the code itself.

    You are correct - the connector drives the underlying EditConstituentCode endpoint in the SKY API, and that endpoint doesn't currently allow changing the constituent code. So Ben's approach of delete + re-add would be the only way to do this through the API, which would in turn inform the way this would be exposed in the connector.


    We haven't added any delete actions to the connector (just because we wanted to wait until we had a valid use case for it). This could be something we get into the next connector release though - If we add that functionality (which would be based on the DeleteConstituentCode endpoint in the API), would that help your scenario Damian?

    Just an update,


    We've added DeleteConstituentCode functionality to the connector, and are in the process of deploying it with Microsoft. Typically this process takes ~2 weeks, and we'll announce this on the changelog when it's released so stay tuned, and thanks again for the feedback!

    Oh wow. This would be phenomenal and would facilitate the automating of Constituent Codes for us. Thanks so much for working on this!

    Hey guys, just wondering if this change will be implemented in the next update. I don't know where the changelog for the connector is located but as far as I could tell from the documentation and from browsing available actions in the connector itself, this functionality is not there yet.

    Hi Damian,


    We are still in the process of deploying the latest connector that includes this functionality with Microsoft (note to self...never say "~2 weeks" again). There were some issues on the Microsoft side with the deployment, and they are currently troubleshooting. I'll update this thread as soon as the deployment is complete, and you'll also see a new item on the Power Platform changelog here:
