Has anyone had a donor donate funds to be used to purchase a vehicle? Did you require any special paperwork?

I would think you'd want something from the donor, which could just be an email, specifically stating what the donation is for. I think they wouldn't need to state the specific vehicle necessarily, although if that's already known, it would be a good thing to have.
In my system, it would be an in and out of the same fund on Finance's side of life. You may need a special, unique fund - I would definitely NOT use your unrestricted fund.5 -

Funds to purchase should be straightforward as Heather MacKenzie replied. Donation of a vehicle is another issue and where other requirements/documents come into play.4

We've had gifts for purchasing gym equipment, flowers, wheelchairs, etc. As long as you have documentation for the donor's designation, and post it to the correct fund on your Finance side, it should handle just like a regular donation as others have said.0
