Stop Initial loading of lists

Has anyone figured out a way to prevent lists [e.g. Report Card Grades Lists] from PREloading when you first enter the list page?


For example, I needed to create a report card grade list.   When I chose 'report card grade list', before I could do anything, it loaded some default list with 148,000+ records!

For this, I waited the better part of a minute.


How can this be avoided?   It seems to happen with all the [non-advanced] lists.

    I am thinking that the best way to do this is to put some sort of filter on the list and save it, knowing that you can always fiddle with the filters to get what you really want instead of waiting for EVERY record ever to load.

    This wouldn't work because one would have to remember to re-fudge the filter after every use.


    The fact is, I'm afraid, it would require a change in the underlying code.

    I'm amazed that more people haven't complained about this. It's quite annoying considering very often (if not most times) one tweaks a list every time one uses one, so to have it preload is a waste.
