Credit card feeds

That is frustrating. There should be a way to know if the credit card you use is supported by Yodlee before purchasing and implementing, but Yodlee is its own beast.
There have been several discussions on linking credit cards in expense management, in the community so read through the community. Maybe someone has the same credit card you are using.
Given the message you are getting, I am guessing your credit card is on the list to pick from. Make sure it is the same website link, not just the name of the bank. If you need to ask for the link to be added, use this link to ask Yodlee to add it. https://financialedge.ideas.aha.io/ideas/FENXT-I-563
We do have our credit card linked, however, it did take a while of working with support to finally figure out the problem, which was having to link cards individually and not through a parent account. The message you are getting is the same message I get for our bank accounts, which I am still waiting on to get connected. Don't give up, the link with the credit card is really nice once you have it connected and learn how the information flows through the system. I had to re-watch some of the training once we got connected.0 -
I appreciated your insights and encouraging comments. You are right the credit card bank is on the list to pick from and it is the same website link. When attempting to connect the feed I am able to enter the userid and password and am prompted for two factor authentication. I am able to obtain the security code via my mobile phone and enter it in at the prompt. As the spinning wheel spins it appears the setup process gets past the security verification and then begins gathering account information. The wheel spins for another 15 seconds gathering account information at which point the process blows up with the Yodlee update error message. I have tried everyday for the last two weeks to try to connect the feed. I will keep trying. The potential for how for this functionality can help us with credit card processing is too much to give up on.0
-
Ok. Had something similar and what I did was log into the credit card account and turn off the two-factor authentication. Then back in NXT, the linking does not time out and then I got the links to happen. However, I do not remember now if I got stopped before the spinning wheel or not so not sure if we experienced the same issue.

We had this same issue. We are now working with the bank directly to get a feed from them instead of going through Yodlee. When I recently watched one of the Expense Manager videos I saw this was an option, I wish I had thought of it two years ago.

Angela - can you point me to where you saw the set up instructions for importing the file from the bank? We use Yodlee right now, and it is glitchy at best. It would be great to import a file versus fighting to work with Yodlee. Please let me know. Thank you.

I would be very interested in how this works out for you0

We have been having an issue with Expense Management for almost a year now. Unfortunately, it still isn't resolved. We would like to link our cards individually and have been unsuccessful. Support has been working with Yodlee, who is supposedly working with AMEX. It is indeed frustrating.0
-
Another option would be to ditch your current credit cards and sign up for the Blackbaud Purchase Cards. We have kept a legacy Amex because of some reward point advantages, but the BB Purchase Cards through Regions Bank work well with the Expense Management System.0

Hello Angela,
Would you be able to share the information on how to do the import?
We have the same issue. Thank you!0 -

I have an AMEX @ Work parent account, but the only way I can get the feeds to come through is to go by each cardholder's individual logins. Ideally, I could connect with my own parent account credentials, the feed would grab every single transaction, and then distribute out based on cardholder name.
The prospect of needing to maintain a different feed for every single cardholder has prevented me from fully implementing this.

It actually has not been that bad as I can update all with one click.1
-
Hello Sylvia,
Does it show the correct online balance? I just did for one of the cards and it doubles the online balance.

Hi Alexander,
We haven't done the import yet, we are still working with the bank to set it up for testing.

Sylivia and Patrick,
I too have been trying to log in using a parent account, I have not set up a log in for an individual card. I need to try and see what happens.

Hi Alexander,
Our credit card reports do not display a full statement balance until the cycle statement report, but the online amount in FE does not seem unreasonable when looking at it day to day.

Hi Angela,
I could not do the parent account setup. I was told that US Bank Visa could not do it. I have each individual card. It seemed like unnecessary extra work, but now that I have them all set up, it is running fine.

There is a button that says refresh all. It runs for a bit, but you can go and work on other things.0
-
I was able to get a credit feed linked with an individual card. So it appears this may be the route to go. We have approx 40 credit card holders under the parent account. Does that mean 40 individual liability accounts for each card? Any other tips or suggestions when configuring for individual cards? How did you work out the signon credentials to the bank's credit card web portal with each individual card holder?
0 -
If all 40 cards are under one parent account, you would have one liability account.
Wow, 40 cards. It is unfortunate that setting up under a parent account didn't work for you. (Didn't work for us either, but we have 9 cards so it wasn't that painful having to do them individually.)0 -
Yeah, I am pretty sure that's what has to happen. 40 sets of credentials for each cardholder in your case. Imagine the headache when the credit card company makes the cardholders change their passwords and such.0

Hi Ed. We're not using the Expense Mgmt module but we do have constant issues with our credit cards and Yodlee. the most recent issue was that Yodlee broke their own code several months ago and we have not been able to download transactions from our credit cards since January. A colleague has been entering all those expenses by hand into a JE each month, and it has been extremely tedious. We have 11 cards, which are under a parent account, so we use the same liability account for all of them, and then reconcile the liability account monthly in Excel, with the combined balances of all the cards. That part works great. But we need to get our feeds and linking fixed once and for all.
I have been working closely with a support person from Blackbaud whose expertise is in Yodlee and bank feed issues. But although I have asked many times, she is unable to tell me WHEN we will be able to download and record our credit card expenses through NXT again. She's good and she knows her stuff, but clearly Yodlee is just a disaster.
We use Bank of America, and although I can see every card listed with the correct card number on the bank's website, somehow, Yodlee keeps displaying old inactive card numbers or doesn't see the correct cards in the feed, or can't tell which cards are active - beats me. Right now we can't refresh any of our cards in NXT; we get great big NXT coding errors when I try. But even back when I was able to refresh the card activity, sometimes the card number was displayed incorrectly, and sometimes the correct card number couldn't be found, so I was unable to link a card to the feed at all.
I don't know what Yodlee is doing or when they estimate they will fix it. I am told that they don't actually create feeds - they simply scrape the bank databases for the feeds they need. The one time I tried to manually add a feed (because the NXT website gives you that option) it seemed to work perfectly. Except I couldn't get rid of the old broken feed. Only Yodlee can do that, and I was told I did the wrong thing by creating a new feed from scratch, even though all the card numbers were right. And nowhere in NXT does it say not to do this.
Blackbaud needs to contract a new credit card service provider ASAP, and also update NXT's banner and error messages. Because in 5 years of dealing with Yodlee, this has rarely worked correctly. </rant>

Thanks for sharing your experience Roberta. I was fearful that even if Yodlee got the feed to our parent credit card account working, it could breakdown. For example the bank changed something on their end and then the screen scraper technology Yodlee uses breaks down. At that point you have no idea when Yodlee will get around to fixing it. Not a dependable solution. Also as you describe even if the feed works there are still glitches. I am starting to feel that investigating the Blackbaud purchasing cards may be something to check out.

How are you importing these into FE's AP system so that the vendor accounts are updated? I've done importing of budgets and of JEs, but not of credit card activity. (We don't use the Expense Management module - is it required?) Thanks!

This explains so much to me as my issue (master account/individual cards) hasn't worked for 6 weeks. I just love (eyeroll) how blackbaud make you think it's a “you” problem. Thank goodness for these discussion boards. I hope the issue is fixed soon.

Hi @Roberta A Gilbert We ended up purchasing a different system instead of using Expense Manager. From my understanding to use Expense Manager it has to go through Yodlee.
However you can import into Accounts Payable. In the database view got to Accounts Payable > Administration > Import Records > Invoice. Full details can be found at KnowledgebaseArticle41638

Check out this blog post. Hopefully this will solve some of the credit card feed problems.

Ed - I totally agree!! The Blackbaud / Yodlee relationship is a complete train wreck. This is what it is like post implementation whenever there is a problem. Blackbaud blames Yodlee. Yodlee blames the bank/cc institution. Problem does not get fixed. It is a good tool when it works. Right now our CC feeds bring over duplicate transactions, transactions assigned to the wrong user, etc…. We end up having to reconcile what is brought over before we allow our users to code. Yikes!

Never got the Exp Mgt Credit Card Feeds to work. Quite the sales job BB did…… Going on 76 days to try and get 1 credit card feed to work. Thanks to all the responses and Community chatter, I think I will run the other way. I have 250 credit cards to manage. Unfortunately, for BB I have to look for another solution.

It's a shame, I like the interface, and how it works when it does work. While I don't have 250 credit cards, I do have a few, under 2 different AMEX @ Work parent accounts for 2 different orgs.
I feel like this would all be solved, if we could just somehow get a link through the parent accounts that gives me a dump of all the charges every month. Honestly, even if I could export them from AMEX and then import them into FE NXT, that would be an improvement I could probably live with. Not fully “automated” of course, but there's the old saying about perfect being the enemy of good.
