Generate Charges

We are getting ready to implement Blackbaud and have been testing billing management extensively in order to be ready. Until last week on Thursday or Friday, we could regularly - either from the billing management home screen or from the recent charges home screen - generate charges, review them, delete them, make some settings changes, generate them again.

Now we can no longer generate them - nothing gets generated. We have the help-desk looking into it, but I wonder if anyone else has had this issue and how we might resolve it?

  • Hi Ed,

    You are not alone, we have also had extensive issues with the Generate Charges functionality in student billing. At one point it was generating charges for past terms, and at another point generating no charges at all. The workaround was to add tuition charges via import, though this process has bugs of its own.

    Unfortunately, we did have a bug in that area but we've since pushed out a fix so you should be all set. If not, please let us know and we'll get a Support case created to research further.

  • Now we have the following:


    Charges get generated for most students, but not all.


    Of those that don't get generated, adding charges from a CSV file doesn't work, nor does adding the charges manually.
  • Thanks, Julia. We also had an issue with the system generating charges for dropped courses. Has this been resolved?

  • Julia, I am having both Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 tuition charges generated. I have deleted the 2022 Spring tuition twice. Can you tell me what is happening there?

    Hi Darla – based on how your billing year is configured, it should not be doing this. It should only be generating for the current billing term which is Fall. Do you have a Support case for this yet? If not, I can have one created. If so, I'll connect with Support to ensure this gets over to the development team so that it can be fixed.
