Is anyone else having a faff when trying to amend a document in the document template manager in sky?

Im having to do the steps to unblock the file before it lets me enable the word document to amend it…

In classic its literally just 3 steps:

  1. Open the document template manager
  2. Open the Template
  3. Edit and add any merged fields

In Sky im counting 15 steps just to get the word document to open and enable to edit

  1. Download the Template
  2. Click Download
  3. Navigate to the Download Folder
  4. Right click mrg file
  5. Properties
  6. Tick unblock
  7. Tick OK
  8. Go back to Sky and open the word doc
  9. Click enable editing
  10. Click yes
  11. Click find data source
  12. Navigate to the download folder
  13. Change All data sources to All Files
  14. Click to open the associated mrg file
  15. Now have access to edit the merge fields under mailings.

And then im having to save the file onto a computer drive and follow the steps to upload it over the existing document in the template manager.

This seems crazy?

    Yes this is a serious problem that I was told they are working on. Hopefully it will be corrected before October 1st!

    Yes, there are too many steps and honestly, I have reverted to doing this work in Classic. As Shanna said, hopefully this is corrected soon.

    Completely agree. The email template is still the same so that is fine but so many steps just to update a printed template. Inefficient.

    Gosh when you spell it out like that, it makes it even more palpable how overly complex it is in SKY now and how much better it was in Classic. DTM in SKY is just a mess when it comes to letters, the email function is the only thing that's transferred well.

    I gave up after spending 30 minutes on what would have been a 5 minute change to the template.

    I didn't realize there was a change to how we access and edit our document templates with SKY. I tried to change and edit a document and realized the merge field I needed was not added before I saved on my Downloads area on my PC. So I had a hard time figuring out how to re-do the steps in order to see the newly inserted merged field. The unfortunate step to remember is to delete the already saved downloads before downloading the "doc" and "mrg" files again from SKY AFTER adding merged fields that did not exist on that template. It was a mess! I couldn't keep up with the correct docs to upload again so that I could see the change take effect. From what I can tell, you need to keep the naming convention of the word doc the same as what is in SKY, so deleting the previously downloaded file is necessary so that my PC doesn't rename the second download as XXXX(1).doc (additional number in parenthesis).
