Segment based on RE NXT email engagement

We currently use RE NXT for targeted donor-specific emails, but use Infusionsoft (aka Keap) for broader email campaigns - like weekly/quarterly newsletters. We'd love to drop Infusionsoft and send all our organization's email communications directly from RE NXT.

However, I don't see a good way to access email engagement data in NXT for segmentation. If a non-donor is on our newsletter list but is not opening those emails, then we have no reason to keep them around - they are just inflating our consitutent number and we'd likely purge their record. Is there really no way to do this?

tl;dr - Is there any way to segment based on the criteria: “Constituent has opened zero emails in the past 3 months"?

Hi @Lara Dulin - There is no way to filter within a Constituent List for email response. However, you can keep track of email engagement on the constituent level by exporting data directly from “Marketing” and combining it in a satellite tracking spreadsheet.

To get the engagement info start by going to “Marketing” > “Email” > “View all sent emails”, and for each email sent during your time range complete the following steps.

    • Click on the number listed under the “Opens” column, this will open a side panel.
    • Within the side panel, right-click on “Create List”.
    • Within your new tab, export the newly created list and open it within excel.
    • Copy over the necessary information into your tracking spreadsheet.

As we still create email lists within database view, I export the static query for the list rather than running to process above on email recipients, as it saves a bit of time. After everything is downloaded from various views, I combine the data in my tracking spreadsheet - marking which constituent's “Opened” the email.

In order to not to repeat previous work, as we utilize email engagement metrics on a recurring basis, I have started a tracking spreadsheet that I update once a month with new information; this process takes me about 4-5 hours, as we also have two email workflows running in addition to the bulk emails sent.

  • Thanks for the thoughtful insight! It's helpful to hear your process laid out, although it's disappointing that I can't do this directly within RE. ? Our org is small and we wear a lot of different hats, and I'll need to think on if the cost/benefit of this would be worth it.
