Has anyone encountered problem saving action in NXT?

One of our gift officers says on occasion he is unable to save the data he has put into the action. The 'Save' button is grayed out. He is aware of the 5 required fields and sometimes required time fields. He has encountered this when entering past meetings with his notes.

Of course I'm unable to replicate it. Has anyone had this experience?

  • I wish I had more to share, but all I can say is that I have experienced this as well.

It might have to with a disconnect between fields required in database view vs. webview. I was testing that with a client, and my working theory at the time was that the setting from database view had not yet caught up in webview. Hard to test for sure, but when I tried again later, everything worked.

    Good luck sorting it out!!

I've experienced it as well. There was a field that I was missing. I can't remember what they were though. Perhaps completed date.

JoAnn Strommen‍ is your gift officer adding attachments as well? I have come across when someone was trying to add a couple of attachments to an action so it seemed like the file sizes were too big. Not sure that is accurate, but when she only added one of them it was able to save.

Dan Snyder‍, from what he said, I don't think so but I will definitely double-check on that.

    Thanks
  • We only put actions in the database view, because if they are put in via NXT, they don't go to the database version. We put all attachments, media posts and actions into the database version because then you can see them no mater how you go into RE (database or NTX). I wish Blackbaud would make the data flow both ways, but they do not.
  • Thank you JoAnn Strommen‍! I was thinking the same thing so am glad you clarified. The content of the action fields flow both directions. It is only an issue with attachments / media, so those should be added in database view.

  • JoAnn,

Have you been able to figure out what's causing this for your gift officer? One of our gift officers has encountered this problem a couple of times now. He has only been able to get it to work after restarting his computer. He tried using different browsers, made sure he completed all required fields, and was not uploading any attachments, but still couldn't save. I would appreciate any insight you can provide.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, no. We never figured out the cause. He said he figured out a work around - if I remember correctly he played with dates and then edited after getting it saved.
  • Our ED experienced this problem. I had him enter actions while I watched and found he experienced the “gray out” problem if he hit the “Enter” button on the keyboard. He was doing this to move through the fields instead of hitting the “Tab” button.

    Fully solved his issue.
