How do I mark a gift as anonymous? Thx!

    Hi Charlotte! If you're talking about Altru, it's the anonymous checkbox in the Add a Payment screen. If you're talking about Raiser's Edge, it's on the Miscellaneous tab (the second tab of the gift record).

    If you're not doing this already, you may also want to think about whether the donor's constituent record should also be marked as an Anonymous Donor. Is just this one gift anonymous or are all gifts from this donor anonymous?

    A couple reasons to consider marking the donor's record as being an Anonymous Donor (if that is the case) would be: 1. so you know to process future gifts from this donor as anonymous gifts. And 2. in case you produce donor rolls in something like an annual report or maybe on a website. Marking the donor's record as anonymous can be a tool to help prevent you from publishing a donor's name when they wish to remain anonymous.

    To follow up on Chris' reply, gifts made online can't be marked as anonymous. As such, we've made it our practice that if we hear from a donor via mail that they want that gift to be anonymous, we will mark their record and, if they have a spouse, their spouse's record as anonymous in case they give online in the future.
