Student Attendance future records get deleted

Is anyone experiencing Student Attendance records get deleted when the day started (record entered previously and everyday we start is blank). We are having that problem since beginning of Sept 2021. Is it possible there is any setting trigger this problem? I am back and forth with Blackbaud support and for the past few weeks we are only getting the same email respond saying “The internal team is still working to complete further testing into this issue”. Really appreciated if anyone can help us. School funding is base on the student attendance records and it is very serious for us to maintain the correct information. If attendance records can be delete or disappear anytime, are we still trusting Blackbaud ON product is reliable and recording the information correctly?

  • Yes we had this issue crop up a couple of weeks ago - have your support tech check out our case #018532808 - it too several days for them to fix but it looks like the attendance is sticking now.

    It was awful - our attendance person took a picture with her phone every afternoon to be able to reload in the morning

  • This has happened to us several times. It makes our Attendance Officer think she is going crazy because she is positive she put something in, but it is then missing. I can clearly recall 2 instances this has happened to us over the last 6 months. Each time I was assured that the issue has been resolved. It is scary to hear that schools are still experiencing this as well. It makes me wonder if we did as well and we just didn't catch it. I never was given any disclosure on the root cause of this issue, so I don't know if this is something systemic that impacts all schools or only a few. They also never let me know if this was something we could have triggered ourselves or if it was something on Blackbaud's side that needed to be addressed.

    Thank you for the information. I am still working with Blackbaud support, Kathy's case is resolved by itself according to the Blackbaud support. Their programmer didn't fix or change anything to resolve her issue. I do recommend to check at the beginning of the school day and make sure records are there. It is a bit scary when a programmer doesn't know why attendance record get deleted by itself. Right now I am putting a student “Absence Excuse” for the whole month, and we check her record stay or not every morning. Moreover, I am worry about their system security now if our system got compromised or not.

  • After over a month of wrestling with the system and support, Blackbaud support tried to switch our “Record Method” from “Per Period” to “Daily”. The future records seems staying, even when I switch it back to “Per Period” after. If it is the cause, seems like some kind of bug required to switch it back and forth to reinstate something. Hopefully it helps other people who is having the similar problem. We are still monitoring the records for a few more weeks.

  • I've been experiencing the opposite. When I logged into my attendance for today, there were children whose attendance had carried over from yesterday. Has anyone experienced this?
