Sharing my Power Automate Flows: Power Automate flow linking NXT actions & MS Planner

Hi all,

We've tested & gotten things to work, so I thought I'd share! These flows are used in our project management process for our grants team--one pulls grant-type actions from NXT to create MS Planner tasks, the other updates RENXT action status when a Planner task is closed.

I hope this helps folks in their project management tasks!

What you need:

  • Blackbaud RENXT connector
  • MS Planner boards (this flow uses monthly boards)
  • Sharepoint list

Skill level: intermediate

You'll need to configure your MS Planner boards (this flow assumes a monthly board, but could be cut down for fewer boards). You'll also need to create a Sharepoint list that captures at least NXT Action ID and Planner Task ID.

    Also, this is a fantastic use-case for why a webhook endpoint is needed for Action records. I posted this idea to the IdeaBank, but it certainly needs more votes!

    @Nicole Holt Could this work from Planner to RENXT? We are trying to capture the interactions across the organization with community partners that staff interact with. Not everyone, nor should they has access to RENXT so we created a planner to capture that information but we want those interactions also captured in RENXT and the best way timeline wise would be Actions. Just curious on your thoughts on that. Thanks for what you posted. Very helpful to understanding Power Automate and the interactions it can have with Blackbaud.

    @Matt Thorn yes, it could work from planner to RENXT. I'd make the PowerAutomate trigger adding a planner task (maybe with a specific assignee or label?) and then use that info to create an NXT action.
