Vendor and Transaction Attributes

Hi there! We are looking to implement a system that tracks which of our expenses go towards certain initiatives - such as Minority-Owned businesses, Local business, Sustainability, etc. I have been thinking of using vendor attributes and transaction attributes to do this. Does anyone have a similar structure in FE that they use and like? If so, are there any issues with reporting? Any suggestions for a better system appreciated :)

  • One way we use attributes, “custom fields” in NXT, is to track client expenses.

    This is very helpful when using Query in database view. I'm not familiar with any existing Attributes report but what we do is export query results to Excel and use pivot tables to display the desired information.

  • Thanks Ferdie! I will try a query. I was able to filter GL reports by transaction custom fields (yay!) But I haven't been able to pull together a comprehensive Payables report using vendor custom fields. So query it will be!

  • We have used attributes to track sales tax counties, gift officer expenses, and campaign expenses. We like Ferdie, also use query and excel.
