Grade Notifications (failures)

Our school is looking to set up grade notifications. I see all the notifications that parents can opt into for missing assignments / posted grades, etc. but we are specifically looking for a notification that parents can opt into that will send an email when a student scores below a certain threshold. Anybody have any ideas?

  • Hi Amy - I have asked about this functionality before and it doesn't exist and I was told to add it as an idea. I would love for a notification to be automatically sent out if a student's cumulative grade was less than a 59%, or for us, if a student has certain assignments that are missing…

We end up emailing our parents whenever this happens. But an automated system would be nice.

  • There used to be a CORE API that would allow you to GET assignment grades, and I would have advised going that route for custom notifications, but unfortunately those endpoints did not get included in the new SKY API :( Teachers can click on the message icon in the gradebook to directly communicate with parents, but that still requires manual work which I know is not the goal.

To request new endpoints for SKY API, use the School category in this Idea Bank:

You may also want to mention it in the developer user community at:

We're actively adding new endpoints to it, including some currently in BETA testing.

By CORE API, do you mean the older ON API?

  • Blackbaud does need to add this feature on sooner than later. Who has time to send emails or message individually.
