Edit Attendance

We have set up attendance so that teachers may edit the attendance on the day recorded. The online help indicates they can edit any time the day the attendance was recorded, and they have been allowed to do this in the past. Recently something changed and now teachers cannot edit attendance in the evening as they used to. I put a ticket in and was told that they have 6 to 8 hours to edit but no indication this was a change. It is. Is anyone else finding this is an issue? It makes for a lot more emails to our attendance manager and she has to then do the edits. I'm not sure why they can't have until end of day to edit.

I remember we set it up so teachers could edit throughout the day. BB may have made changes so that it was reset to only change during the period (at least the teachers can't change previously recorded changes now).

It's easy enough to change it. Go to Academics - Attendance - Attendance Setup. Go to Record Method and click Edit on the appropriate school level. You can put a check next to Allow teachers to edit attendance entries during the day to open it up.

Thanks - that is what we have had for years on attendance. However, it is now shutting off long before end of day even though it says this:

It's a little after 8:30 here. When I impersonate a teacher the attendance for classes cannot be edited. Must be some time setting on BB's side.

Support didn't indicate there had been any change from what it had been doing and seemed to say the 6 to 8 hours was always there. They told me I could enter an idea to have it stay open all day, which I did. Our staff uses this a lot so we can definitively say that they used to be able to do edits throughout the day and it has changed, but Blackbaud considers the ticket closed at this point.

I found your idea and voted for it. I agree that teachers should have more time to make changes, which would save the attendance managers time later. Here's the idea in case others want to vote.

This is just a guess, but the ability to change attendance may be tied to the SCHOOL day, therefore making it unavailable after the final scheduled school activity??
