Who Wore it Best? Webinar Follow-Up, Questions, and Ideas!

Thanks to everyone who joined us today for “Who Wore it Best? Web View vs. Database View Batch” and asked thoughtful questions. If you missed us today, please feel free to register anyway (even though the session has already happened), and you’ll get a recording of the session in about 24 hours. A few folks couldn’t see the slide deck to download, so it’s attached here; please help yourself.

There were several themes that emerged in questions, and I wanted to elevate them here.

Can I see my batches in both views? For example, if I create a Batch in the Web View, can I see it in the Database View? (or vice versa?)

No, you can’t. The batches live in whichever view you enter them in. There is actually an Idea in the Idea Bank on this, but it doesn’t have a lot of votes! If this request resonates with you, please vote on it. https://community.blackbaud.com/products/raisersedge7/ideas #RE7-I-5660

I’m personally intrigued by folks who are interested in this feature. If you’re so inclined, I’d love to hear more about what you do with Batches once you’ve already committed the gifts. Do you often go back to look at old Batches?

How do I switch my manual recurring gifts (in the database view) over to automated recurring gifts (in the web view)?

Here are step-by-step instructions! https://webfiles.blackbaud.com/support/helpfiles/rex/content/bb-recurring-gift-conversion.html

Is there a way to link gifts to Memberships in the Web View? What about Tributes?

Not yet, but these areas are currently in development. You are welcome to vote on these in the Idea Bank, but please be assured we definitely already know that you want these features.

Thanks as always for attending the webinar. Please keep our page bookmarked for the latest offerings!

You can see web view batches when in db after they are approved.

That is how I can see the weekend gifts that I need to change the gift date/GL post date on to pull in our daily financial reports.

  • Yes, AFTER - but not before, pending batches live where they live. Good call-out!

  • Thank you for the follow up here! I am one of those who's going to have to watch it later.

I'm unable to download the slide deck from your link. If it's not an attachment, could you please attach it as well? I'd love to have it.

  • I also was not able to download the slideshow. I got a 404 error.

  • We have never used NXT batches as we commit and post to GL and then send the GL report to accounting through an overnight integration that splits money into the desired funds and database view supports this workflow for us really well.

Does web view batching allow for the commit, post to GL features?

If we switch recurring gifts to the web view, are we able to query that batch up in database view to create a posting report? Receipts?

This may seem silly to ask, but if the gifts are put in web view, do they seamlessly integrate to daily gift reports and donor records?

  • How do you see them in database view? In the batch area or do you query for them?

As mentioned in previous post in this thread, after web view batch is ‘approved’ (committed) you can see the batch. It lands in a folder in batch called “Web View Batches.” Gifts have a GL post date that matches the gift date of the web batch.

You can query on gifts in the batch using the batch #. Yes, when gift is made it shows as ‘pending’ in web view. Once approved, it is recorded on db side and has all the functions of a db gift.
