Bank Reconciliation

The bank reconciliation has been completely changed. At initial glance a few things need to be fixed. When reconciling, we need to be able to save the changes in column widths. Otherwise the information needed is not shown. Specifically, we need to scroll to the right in order to see all the information. When I changed the column widths, it did not save.

In addition, we used to be able to go between the three screens in the reconciliation by clicking one tab at the top of the page. Now, there are check marks. The only way to move among the three is at the bottom (Previous/Next)

I truly do not understand how functionality can be changed overnight without any warning. Thank you,

  • Yes, I noticed this yesterday with bank reconciliations – I selected columns and put them in the order I wanted and adjusted column widths so I could see what I needed to see, and when I saved, and then came back in, it had reverted back to the default order and added back the columns I had hidden. Very frustrating and time consuming to adjust the columns every time. I also don't like that I need to go to the bottom of the screen to scroll across to see columns that are further right.

Like John, I also don't understand why changes would be made without notice, and that cause extra clicks, scrolls and column selection/sorting (every time a bank rec is opened!)– and where changes aren't saved, after so much talk about how the columns are “sticky". (They definitely are not now for the bank reconciliations.)

  • These user interface issues don't surprise me anymore.

I got burned last year when the update changed how exporting my reports to Excel changed as well as there was an error introduced to the calculation of variances, off by a factor of 1000. Solution was to change my reports to factor in the incorrect calculation.

If Blackbaud can't even ensure simple calculations aren't caught prior to release, I don't expect them to actually catch and correct usability issues.

Report calculation was eventually fixed, but the excel export format was not. Well there were some fixes to adding, etc, I can't be bothered to go back to see the issues. I may resurrect my thread.

So far I am glad we never moved to the NXT as we have been using the database view for AP processing and Bank recs, as well as majority of our JE's.

I will be listing Blackbaud down in our risk register.
