Tracking Corporate Employee Giving Campaign - Donor Challenge?

Does anyone have experience using the Donor Challenge function in CRM?

We have a corporate donor making a new commitment that includes a pledge from the company itself, and then a pledge to raise a certain amount from its employees, with a promise that if the amount is not raised, the company will make up the difference. All giving from this company's employees should count towards the Employee Pledge, including personal pledge commitments and event registrations.

I'm looking at Donor Challenges and this seems to be the best way to track all these employee donations against the overall Employee Pledge commitment. However, given that this is not actually a true “challenge” (ie, fulfillment of the Employee Pledge does not trigger an additional payment from the company), I am worried I might be creating additional issues for us down the road.

Would appreciate ANY advice or insight!

  • Hi Laura,

    You should be fine using the donor challenge in your scenario. As long as you set it up with the correct thresholds and maximums you shouldn't get any additional pledges for the corp making the “challenge." I would probably also use lump sum rather than per gift that way it will be easy to manage at the end if the employees don't contribute enough and the company has to give the rest.
