Database View Rant/Vent
I am SOOOOOOO sick of the slowness of database view. If they are not going to have all the functionality we need in web view then at least make database view accessible so we can get work done without aging/pulling our hair out/screaming in frustration!!! ?

Agreed. RE database runs smoothly at 4AM…not so much later when more people are awake and active. Wait times range from 5 or 10 seconds to closer to half a minute…

I agree it runs slow at times. But I have found a few things that help. Upgrading to the newest version of Citrix helps. So does clearing out your history browser and your cookies.

We have been complaining about this for months! then we all had to track every single instance - what area, what were we trying to do, how long does it usually take (my response to that was always < 1 second). Finally, our CFO said “we are done tracking this because THAT was time consuming because it was the same damn thing every time, and what's the point of continuing to track it every…single…time. Last week, every single action/tab I clicked on took at least 10-15 seconds to launch. Now some may say, that's not too long, but when you are used to it being instant, and then it happens every move, it's very detrimental to work flow. Open a case and stay on them, not that it will do any good.

@Potique Johnson - thanks I'll have to try all that. All I know is it is like playing Russian roulette every morning - will database view open up today. If I could do everything from web view I would but I can't. Then if it feels like opening it will freeze in the middle of doing stuff. Before we were on whatever server they moved us to it responded MUCH better.

I feel for all. We have noted being hosted that we have to regulate activities for the entire team because that can impact the system response time. i.e. we do all our reporting data pulls/exports for any significant amount of data off-hours. The same for Global Data Integrity work. Significant Exports/Imports/Global changes are all done off hours unless some urgency. We communicate via email within the team about any needs to do so. This includes an agreed start time with a courtesy email upon completion. This has really helped system response time for our Gift Processing and Data Integrity. It is better for both as those off hour items process much faster. I've had data pulls take half the time off hours. (There is also a queue process to run jobs off hours that we have yet to checkout.) Responses to Covid have improved the ability to work remotely and flexibility in work schedule which has helped making off hour work much easier to accomplish. Maybe you are already doing this, but if not its worth polling your teams to see what others are doing especially when your experience delays. Wishing you some speed! :-)

Infrastructure issue. All these software updates and instead, Blackbaud needs more hardware. And RE NXT is not ready to replace database view anytime soon. UGH
