Athletics Updates - Looking for Feedback

Hello Everyone!

I'm Mike and I'm the Product Manager for the Learning Management System. We've talked a lot about Assessments, LTI, and Annotations recently, but the team is also looking to make some changes to Athletics and make for a more modern experience. With that in mind, I am actively looking for some feedback on some of the ideas we have cooking internally.

If this interests you, feel free to reach out me at michael.morrissette@blackbaud.com and we'll get something scheduled!

Otherwise, I hope you all are enjoying your summer break and if you have any feedback about the LMS as a whole, feel free to reach out!

  • @Michael Morrissette

Our school has been trying for years to request updates to the Athletics area. Someone from my school will definitely be in touch! Thank you.

  • @Michael Morrissette Our school would welcome engagment about the Athletics for public and priviate side. Just a day ago, we realized we cannot publish out an athletes preferred name on our website. We had set up the new interface with Athletics but had to revert back due to lack of functionality with rescheduling/cancelling games. We would welcome engagement.

  • @Traci Holinger I learned just a couple of weeks ago how to make the student preferred name show on the public side. It is a bit ridiculous and I was hoping there was a data import option but I haven't had time to investigate. In order to have the preferred name show on public rosters, you have to go to Manage Rosters under Athletic setup (Extracurricular → Athletics → Athletic setup → Manage Rosters), choose a team, then edit. On the page with the roster, choose edit beside the student's name, and check Use Preferred Name. This means you have to do this for every student in every roster! Why doesn't it follow the user name format you set for other areas? Doesn't make sense! And I'm wondering if you have to do this every year or if set for a student this year, does it maintain the setting next year or from one sport to another?

  • @Michael Morrissette I recently received feedback from folks that they'd like the preferred terms for competitions to use e.g. meet, match, trial, etc. Also want the option to have an “other” category that would encompass optional activities for the teams.
