500 Error when calling GetFundList endpoint

Hi there,

We have a customer that is running into this issue when we try to pull the FundList into our application:

{
"status":500,
"statusCode":500,
"title":"Internal Server Error",
" message":"The SKY API service is currently unavailable - failed to resolve the environment audience.",
"detail":"The SKY API service is currently unavailable - failed to resolve the environment audience."
}

Any insight on this issue?

Thanks,
Dylan Hochreiter

  • This is happening for one of our live clients, and I have no way to contact support on their behalf so some assistance on this one would be much appreciated.

  • @Dylan Hochreiter, if you search the Community for “failed to resolve the environment audience” you'll see a post from me and a thorough reply from @Ben Lambert. In it, he mentions the possibility that the environment doesn't contain - or no longer contains - the product required for the call, in your case (and in my own), The Raiser's Edge NXT.

    Ben says that it could be a different root cause, but that is where I'd start investigating. Failing that, I'd submit a case via support (tho they might direct you back here unfortunately).

    Cheers,

    Steve Cinquegrana | CEO and Principal Developer | Protégé Solutions

    PS Ben also mentions that they will be hopefully emitting a more helpful error than a 500 at some point.

    @Dylan Hochreiter, I checked the logs for your application, and Steve is correct. I see requests to the Fundraising API (Fund List endpoint) for a customer environment that does not have Raiser's Edge NXT. Obviously, we have not improved this admittedly confusing error message yet. I'll circle back with the team about improving this.

    I don't want to identify the customer here. However, looking at their customer record, they do have a Blackbaud Environment with the Raiser's Edge NXT product. My hunch is that the customer simply Connected your application to the “wrong” environment. If you need more details, feel free to private message me. FWIW (to help confirm the customer we're talking about), they connected your application on 9/19.

    @Dylan Hochreiter your customer can add you as a support contact to report SKY API issues. Since this is a 500 error, they should be able to route this correctly and not send you back to the Community. We know that has been an issue but have tried to address it with the Support teams.

  • I am following up with the customer and Blackbaud support to get this issue resolved for them.

    Thanks for the insight everyone!
