Counting Missing 'M' assignments in the gradebook as 0?

Is this possible?

Noticed that for grades, students with M and no grade inputted doesn't affect their grade, nor does trying other options like Incomplete on the gradebook--a student with a lot of missing assignments at the end of the quarter ended up with a high grade.

Are those markers just for indication, and you always have to input a grade? Or could it be set up where Missing = 0

    It looks like it's been a thing before but still no update on that. It's in the idea box as well but from over a year ago, not sure if Blackbaud is on it.

    You're correct, right now the Missing indicator is not ‘smart’. It's used specifically as a reporting tool for right now, but that doesn't mean we can't build logic behind the flag. Leveraging those indicators and making them more functional is something we're interested in looking into further. I know saving teachers clicks is always highly sought after, and this could be one area we could make some optimizations. No timeline to relay on this, but it is something we're noodling around with.

    @Nathan Ong Nope and it's very annoying. We regularly have to remind our teachers that they have to mark the assignment as missing AND include a zero in the gradebook if you really want to get student's attention. Unfortunately, while the “missing” indicator might catch the attention of a counselor or parent, our students don't really seem to care until the missing assignment affects their grade. Here is another “idea” that was marked as “already exists” even though the idea has NOT been implemented.

    @Michael Morrissette - I think that our teachers would want the ability to configure what (if any) numeric grade or letter grade should be recorded for the Missing flag (or other flags). I think that a natural place to set that is on the Display options tab of Gradebook Setup.
