Journal entries not posting to bank register

FYI - I discovered today while working on my bank reconciliation that a few entries from the last week that hit a cash account in the journal entry did not post to the bank register. I opened a case with Blackbaud and they said it was a known issue and they are working on it, but a fix won't be ready until 11/10 or after. Any journal entries hitting your cash account that are posted in the web view are not carrying over to the register. If you post entry in database view, it is fine. I looked on their known issues page and didn't see anything on there. I wanted to share in case other people were not aware of this problem.

I am experiencing the same issue. Thank you for your post. I also opened a case.

Thank you for your post. I just found this today as I was working on my journal entries for October and bank reconciliations.

  • @Sharelle Buyer
I am also experiencing the same issue. I have opened a case with Blackbaud. Is this your first time experienced this?

  • @Sharelle Buyer Yep, us too! I imagine a lot of people will be discovering this issue as they go to reconcile their bank registers!

  • @Sharelle Buyer
Thank you for posting this. I was afraid it was just me. Glad Blackbaud is aware of the issue and is working to resolve.

  • @Thyda Thach yes it is the first time I have experienced it.

  • @Sharelle Buyer
Good morning! We ran into the same issue yesterday and were able to find a knowledge base article over this issue:

  • @Sharelle Buyer
What resolution did you use for this? I opened a case also. Blackbaud suggested I reverse the journal entries and post them again through database.

  • @Sharelle Buyer
Same issue for me as well. I thought it was only on import entries. However, today I see that it is any journal entry in FENXT. I guess database is the only was to enter the journal entries until they fix the issue?

  • @Sharelle Buyer Thank you for posting this; we are having the same issue. No fix until 11/10 or after? Yikes. Not like it is budget season for some of us!

  • @Erica Yule They told me to reverse in database but before I posted to uncheck the box to create the bank adjustment, then post. Copy the entry and make sure the box is checked for this entry, then post. That box is in the set-up of the system, not able to check and uncheck at will. I wasn't going to risk unchecking the box, then other entries being posted and have more entries to fix. I reversed the entry in web view (since I knew it wasn't posting to the register), and then copied the original entry in database and posted that way. They also suggested doing it through Treasury and marking the entry as Do Not Post. Our general ledger will be a mess for October, but at least I can reconcile my bank statement.

  • @Penny Evans only if you are hitting a cash account. Other entries are fine. All the other modules (AP, Cash Receipts, Cash Management) all post to the register fine in web view.

  • @Sharelle Buyer It looks like the issue has been resolved as of today. ? I tested it out and it works now!

  • @Christy Salinas Still not working for us even though Blackbaud is stating they have resolved it?

  • @Dana Behler it's still not working for us, either, unless they mean all entries going forward are working (I haven't tried that yet). I'm more worried about the entries made that still aren't showing up in the register.

  • @Sharelle Buyer Update, so I tried a new entry and that entry worked. It appears my old entries are lost in the woods, though. I'm going to have to go to the trouble to identify what those were, and come up with a workaround, aren't I?

I am having the same issues. All the right boxes were marked and the dates are correct.

  • @Elizabeth Perron
If I wait until the fix will all be well or do I have to reverse and copy with the box to change bank balance unmarked? With 4 accounts to reconcile this would be a very lengthy process and I am scheduled to be out of the office for the next 10 days.

  • @Sharelle Buyer I am having the same issue!

  • @Dana Behler the impression I was giving today was the only fix was for us to do manual adjustment. Did you a definite answer that they would fix it by the 10th? Thank you!

  • @Anne Swearingin It will not fix entries that are already posted. You have to manually correct all of those.

  • @jason brown I received an update and the fix was supposedly done on Nov 4. I have not tested it yet so not sure if it actually works:-)

  • @Patrick Lunn Yes. The fix did not fix what was already posted. There is an knowledgebase article that shows the fixes, but I did it a little different than they recommended. Probably can't do what I did now since the problem is fixed.

    Hello all!

We understand the inconvenience this issue has caused and are pleased to inform you that this was resolved as at November 4 2022.

This means that going forward all batches posted as from November 4 will have the right adjustments. However for batches posted between October 27 and November 3, you will be required to carryout the following steps to ensure your adjustments are included in the batches

    1. Manually add the bank adjustments and change the status to Do Not post.

    OR

    2. Reverse posted batch:

    1. Create reversing batch of the posted batch.
    2. Unmark the box to Create the bank adjustments and post the reversing journal entry batch.
    3. Copy the original batch, checking to ensure that the Create banks adjustment checkbox is marked and post the batch.

If you have further technical questions, kindly create a case with Support.
See link below to knowledge base article shared earlier

    Thank you
    Regina

  • Has anyone fixed the issue by doing a manual bank adjustment and changing the status to do not post? I am having issues with dates in this section.

  • Coming back around to this thread. I had gone the route of creating ‘Do Not Post’ bank adjustments (I didn't like the idea of creating so many JE in the GL). For the most part, it worked well except I am noticing that the sum of any outstanding ‘do not post’ entries at the end of October, is the amount that the bank rec report is telling me the GL cash account balance is out by. The bank does reconcile.

When I look at the YTD ending balance of the register and the GL for the same bank, the balances match. So that means I have the same entries in both the GL and the register. So I don't know why it thinks the GL does not match the register.

I have not clicked on 'reconcile now' yet. but I am wondering if I do, when I reconcile November and check off these outstanding items my difference will resolve itself. I don't want to be hasty in doing this as you can't un-reconcile. Did anyone else try the ‘do not post’ option it the problem?
